Laughing in Class Makes You a Better Dancer

This week, I’ve had the giggles more than usual. Maybe it’s my brain making puns out of random things I hear, maybe it’s the double meanings we find when explaining a move, or the funny analogies that pop up when I’m trying to make a point stick.
Whatever it is, the mood in my lessons and practice sessions has been lighter. And because of that, I’ve been enjoying dancing even more — even when things get tough.
In any environment where you’re being challenged—where you’re trying to stretch and grow—it’s easy for the inner critic to get loud. To make mistakes feel heavier than they are. To let frustration sneak in and slow you down.
But laughter cuts through that.It eases the pressure.
It reminds you to breathe. It helps you reset, refocus, and try again without carrying the tension of “I have to get this right.”
And that small shift? It makes a big difference over time.
Because when you create a habit of staying light — even in hard moments — you make it easier to keep showing up.
And that’s what keeps you growing.
